Our story

How Tournament Male started.

A gym owner, a shutdown, and a question: could brotherhood work online?

The catalyst

Then COVID shut us down.

I ran a successful personal training studio. Clients I'd cared for over years were thriving.

When the studio closed, their health fell apart. Not from lack of exercise, but from isolation. Months without seeing each other did what skipping the gym never could.

It wasn't just my clients. I'm a family man with young kids. Ambitious, competitive and formerly social, I was stuck at home like everyone else, with no daily camaraderie and no competition, watching the weeks blur together.

So I decided to fix it.

I didn't want to waste away at home in boring, isolated family life. So I set out to fix the problem using technology, precisely what had been causing us to drift apart.

The insight

Men have lost the third place.

Home. Work. Then what?

Men used to have a third place: guilds, pubs, fraternities, social clubs, church. Somewhere you showed up because you wanted to, with men you were highly aligned with. For most men that place is gone.

My gym was a third place until COVID took it, and the shutdown proved how fragile every physical third place had become. So I tested a hypothesis: could you build one online, and could it actually thrive?

The key

Men who think like you, in one place.

Finding your people used to happen by default. Same street, same school, same church. Now there's no shared context, and you can't say what you actually believe.

What men want is simple: to walk into a room and know instantly that these are my people.

Gather men with that alignment in how they think, build and raise their families. Add daily rhythms, weekly calls and rankings that matter, and the community runs itself.

Men didn't just join. They showed up every day.

  • It's hard to imagine life before joining TM. It's allowed me to unlock dozens of new strategies and mindsets that have helped me with my marriage, my health/lifestyle, and generally just my ability to grow as a man. There are many factors that go into this, but above and beyond the most important is being part of a brotherhood — and not just any brotherhood, but a group of men that are genuinely impressive, strong, growth-oriented, and supportive. Beyond just how it's impacted my growth, it's genuinely just a fun community to be a part of. I spend a lot of time talking to the guys (in both voice and text chat) and it's a regular part of my daily life. I'll be in TM for as long as it exists.

  • After trying all sorts of trendy diets and success strategies, I can look back and see nothing but inconsistency, constant weight fluctuation, feeling disappointed in myself, and always thinking I can get it together and fix it on my own. Being part of this group is showing me the power of compounding growth. If I have a community to keep me on track, I can hit my goals over time through steady and sustainable improvements. I feel the weight of this community as I go about my days. I don't need to worry about one bad meal or one missed workout ruining everything. I don't have to depend on my own willpower to push me through. The systems are reasonable, built for the long term, and there's room to enjoy life while staying on track. Glad I found this. I recommend it highly.
